Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation with Automatic Tracking System
Solar energy is a critical component in increasing renewable energy supplies. The design and building of a microcontroller-based solar panel tracking system are presented in this article. Because solar energy is a nontraditional source of energy, we have created solar panels to meet our power needs. However, owing to the earth's rotation, the solar source, i.e. the sun, does not always face the panel, resulting in less energy being generated. The energy panel should face the SUN for the whole of the day. Our technology can address the issue above by automatically tracking solar energy. The system architecture is shown in the block diagram below. A LDR sensor detects maximum solar power, which is sent to the Microcontroller through the ADC, which digitises the LDR output. The controller then makes a decision based on the algorithm and uses a DC motor to tilt the panel in the direction of the maximum energy provided by the LDR. The motor rotates the LDR in order to detect the maximum solar power. A Solar Tracker is a device that is attached to solar panels that monitors the sun's movement across the sky, ensuring that the panels get the greatest amount of sunlight throughout the day.
