Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

•Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a strong Christian witness in all interactions with youth, staff, donors, volunteers, and the general public so as to uphold Black Mountain Home's mission of Glorifying God by caring for children, youth, and families .

•Commit to pray regularly for the youth, staff, and ministry.

•Work to provide for the needs of up to six resident children/youth; teach basic living skills; and obtain Home and outside services for each youth's needs beyond House Parent couple's ability to provide. Provide any child/youth placed in the home with responsible supervision at all times.

•Work closely with the Case Manager and Team Leader to coordinate assessment, placement, transfer, and discharge of youth.

•Provide, with affection and respect, comprehensive individualized care to each youth within the guidance of the Code of Living, Personnel Policies, and other Home policy documents.

•Carry out directions set forth by the Team Leader to ensure that house rules, Code of Living, Personnel Policies, and other Home policies and procedures are followed.

•Work with the Case Manager and Team Leader to provide meaningful sharing of information on each child; meet weekly to share written information, discuss changes, or problems; and set house rules.

•Work with Relief House Parents to provide meaningful sharing of information on each child; meet with Relief House Parents prior to scheduled respite and vacation to share pertinent information about youth, their schedules, family visits, and discuss any issues or concerns.

•Document, as directed, the children's needs, experiences, and progress while receiving services at Whitewater Cove.

•Coordinate outside appointments and evaluate the needs and progress of each child as required to meet state regulations and accepted standards of care.

•Make every effort to support, encourage, and enhance the child's relationship with his/her parent(s), adoptive parent(s), or identified significant others.

•Work with the Team Leader to request and receive needed monies, supplies, and equipment to meet group and individual needs in the house.

•Work with the Team Leader to meet special maintenance and repair needs of the Whitewater Cove facilities and property.

•Supervise and lead volunteer groups as needed and requested.

•Plan recreation activities for the youth in the house and facilitate, when appropriate, youth participation in recreation activities planned for youth at the main campus.

•Work with school personnel to help meet the educational needs of youth living at Whitewater Cove.

•Divide the tasks and responsibilities between the two members of the House Parent/Caretaker Couple to match, where possible, the temperament and gifts of the two individuals.

•Attend staff meetings, which include participation in a time of Christian devotion and prayer, as youth care schedule allows. Review minutes and sign off for missed meetings to stay aware of ministry updates.

•Participate in and supervise youth at weekly worship services, attending Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church at least once each month.

•Lead daily, Christian devotions that are appropriate and relevant to the youth in the house.

•Help with maintenance of the grounds and lodge as necessary.

•Problem solve as needed and complete other projects as requested. Black Mountain Home For Children
