We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our team during a significant P&C Policy Modernization journey. You will play a crucial role in the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of insurance solutions built on Guidewire PolicyCenter. This position requires a strong understanding of Guidewire PolicyCenter configuration and integration with various internal and external applications. You will be involved in maintaining the Guidewire Cloud Platform and contributing to the infrastructure upgrade on the AWS cloud environment. We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position will be based out of our Plano, TX office. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Responsibilities include designing, developing, coding, and testing complex technical solutions; investigating and resolving complex application and system technical problems and production issues through troubleshooting techniques; continually improving operations by conducting complex systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures; preparing and installing complex solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming; following the software development lifecycle; participating in design reviews and learning key system design principles; mentoring junior engineers and possibly peer engineers; reviewing teammates’ code; and ensuring risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures. Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree or 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement or approved certification from CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT, or eFIT; 4 years of software development experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding; 2 years of experience delivering technology solutions in all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle including leading code/design reviews; basic understanding of one or more programming languages such as Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python; developing level of business acumen in business operations, risk management, industry practices and emerging trends; experience supporting efforts to address production issues through troubleshooting; experience articulating technical challenges and solutions; and basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools. Preferred qualifications include experience with Guidewire Cloud Implementation from inception to implementation phases; 5+ years of hands-on experience with Guidewire Cloud platform (PolicyCenter) including Product Model configuration, Entity, Batch process, REST, Web services Integrations, PCF, Gosu Scripts, and Rules; experience with Java, Kafka, Spring, Redis, Kubernetes, OpenShift; ability to articulate complex technology subjects to IT and business audiences; effective communication and relationship building skills; ability to develop solutions using Guidewire PolicyCenter out-of-box services, in-house developed APIs, and third-party vendor APIs; experience with system operations and addressing non-functional requirements; experience with SAFe or similar agile frameworks; Guidewire PolicyCenter Associate certification for version 10.x; and US military experience or military spouse/domestic partner status. The position offers a salary range of $99,580 - $179,240 with pay based on experience and market data.
